WWDC: Apple iOS 10 will finally allow you to delete pre-installed bloat One of the less reported on pieces of news from Apple's WWDC event yesterday was the fact that you can now delete Apple bloat from your iOS devices.

With the launch of iOS 10, you will be to remove all apps from your iPhone and iPad, including Apple's own pre-installed apps that you never use.

A few of the apps that are expected to see quick deletion are Watch (for non-Watch owners), Compass, Tips, Stocks and Podcasts although there are plenty of others that could go.

As a secondary function, Apple has added the native apps to the App Store, allowing you to download them all again if you ever want them back.

PlayStation VR has an official release date, October 13th

PlayStation VR has an official release date, October 13th Sony has confirmed the release date for the upcoming PlayStation VR headset, October 13th.

The headset was officially unveiled at GDC this March.

At $399 for the headset, or $499 bundled with a camera and Move controllers (if you don't already own them), the device won't be cheap but so far from everything we've seen it looks truly revolutionary.

Sony says there will be 50 games available before the end of the year, putting in on par with offerings from Oculus and HTC.

E3: Watch Dogs 2: Hack Everything

E3: Watch Dogs 2: Hack Everything At E3, Ubisoft showed off new gameplay footage for Watch Dogs 2, telling gamers that they will be able to "hack everything."

The game is set in San Francisco and you control a hacker while engaging in gun battles, drone snooping, sports car racing and parkour, lots of parkour.

Ubi says the game will be available on November 15th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Raspberry Pi supplier acquired for $871 million

Raspberry Pi supplier acquired for $871 million Daetwyler Holding has agreed to purchase the largest Raspberry Pi supplier, Premier Farnell, for 615 million pounds ($871 million).

The company currently supplies for power-systems manufacturers and machinery makers but has been looking to expand into other markets.

Raspberry Pis are tiny computers that cost $35 and can be loaded with different operating systems and are intended to help students learn how to code on a budget.

"The combination represents a strong strategic fit and is highly attractive,"
Premier Farnell said in the statement, and the deal valued Premier Farnell at a 51 percent premium to yesterday's closing price.

E3: Sony reveals new God of War

E3: Sony reveals new God of War Sony started their E3 keynote yesterday giving the fans exactly what they wanted: a new God of War game.

In the brief gameplay video, we see Kratos training his son to hunt, and the two then take down a few monsters using the games' patented slashing and button mashing action.

For the time being, the game does not look like a God of War 4, but it certainly could be an expansion of the God of War universe.

E3: Hideo Kojima is back with new game, 'Death Stranding'

E3: Hideo Kojima is back with new game, 'Death Stranding' Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima stole the show yesterday at E3, showing off a new game titled "Death Stranding" featuring The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus.

Not too much was revealed except for a short video featuring a grief-stricken Norman Reedus holding his dead child and a zoom out to a decimated landscape.

The game is the first for Kojima productions since the latest MGS and the first since Kojima's highly-anticipated 'Silent Hills' game fell through following some in-fighting.

We will certainly learn more soon.

E3: It's finally here! 'The Last Guardian' set for release in October

E3: It's finally here! 'The Last Guardian' set for release in October Gaming fans rejoice: 'The Last Guardian' will finally make its way to Sony's PlayStation 4 on October 25th.

The company announced the end of the Ico trilogy in 2009, but the game has been killed by delays for years, making it one of the most highly-anticipated games in PlayStation history.

Sony did not reveal much at E3 yesterday but did show off some touching scenes and some gameplay.

As we have known for years, TLG revolves around a boy left in ancient ruins with a giant bird-dog hybrid creature named Trico. The two must escape by solving puzzles.

WWDC: As expected, Apple renames OS X to macOS As expected, Apple used their WWDC event today to officially change the branding of their Mac operating system OS X.

The OS will now go by macOS, a smart move by the company that will simplify its ecosystem which now includes watchOS, tvOS, iOS and macOS.

In addition to the name change, Apple also announced the upcoming macOS will be called Sierra and it will include built-in Siri support. Available for iOS since 2011, Siri for desktop will work similarly. Click on the Siri icon and you'll be able to use the 'personal assistant' to look up whatever you need, or set timers, reminders, calendar items, etc. You will also be able to search your on files using Siri, which could be useful.

Finally, Apple is updating 'Continuity' by adding a universal clipboard for copying between iOS and macOS devices and adding automatic unlock options if you have an Apple Watch. iCloud has also been updated on the file management front, letting users sync between desktop and documents folders on multiple devices.

Expect a Sierra beta soon and a final release in September.

'Warcraft' sets opening week record in China Despite a tepid opening week in the U.S., the Duncan Jones directed 'Warcraft' film has set the record for largest debut in China by a foreign film.

The film brought in an astounding $156 million in its first five days in China, on its way to a $300 million gross worldwide.

In scope, the number is huge. The previous record holder was Avengers: Age of Ultron and the blockbuster film had a lifetime gross of $240 million in the nation. That figure seems to be beatable relatively quickly at its current pace.

The film's distributor, Legendary, used financing partnerships with Chinese companies like Tencent, and sponsorship and promotional partnerships with other Chinese companies to build hype in China, which appears to have worked nicely.

Microsoft officially unveils the slimmed down Xbox One S As leaked yesterday, Microsoft has confirmed and launched the new slimmed down Xbox One S console, available for pre-order now.

The new console is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, and now comes in the "robot white" color scheme. On the outside, the Xbox One S has lost the gigantic power brick of its predecessor and will come with the option to buy a vertical stand.

On the inside, Microsoft has upgraded the raw processing power of the console, adding 4K video support (including 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays), HDR support for gaming and video and a built-in IR blaster. Aesthetically, the USB ports have been moved to a more convinient spot up front, along with the controller pairing button.

"The Xbox One S for us was a realization that first, we want to make a smaller Xbox, but there was also some capability that we saw growing out in the market around HDR and 4K video,"
Xbox head Phil Spencer noted. "So we said, if we're going to do an upgrade to our console, let's go ahead and embrace some of the technologies that are coming and make those part of our core SKU."

In addition, the console comes with a modified controller that has textured grips and the addition of Bluetooth.

'Halo Wars 2' beta now live

'Halo Wars 2' beta now live Microsoft has announced today that its highly-anticipated 'Halo Wars 2' will be released late February next year, with a beta now live following the company's E3 keynote.

The sequel will follow the events of Halo 5, and will be an RTS game just like its predecessor.

In the new game, humanity is fighting back against a new race of aliens called "the Banished," and we have a nice gameplay trailer for those interested.

The game has been developed by Halo studio 343 Industries in partnership with The Creative Assembly, the team behind the popular Total War games, suggesting Microsoft has really amped up the strategy aspects.

Microsoft acquires professional social network LinkedIn for $26 billion Earlier today, Microsoft agreed to acquire professional social network and job posting site LinkedIn for $26.2 billion.

The companies say LinkedIn will keep its "brand, culture and independence" and current CEO Jeff Weiner will remain at the helm. The executive will now report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

LinkedIn revealed some membership and financial figures following the acquisition, including 433 million current members worldwide, a jump of 19 percent year-over-year, 49 percent growth in mobile usage and 101 percent growth in active job listings.

"The LinkedIn team has grown a fantastic business centered on connecting the world's professionals," Nadella added. "Together we can accelerate the growth of LinkedIn, as well as Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics as we seek to empower every person and organization on the planet."

Check out the new Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer here Ahead of E3, EA has unveiled the latest trailer for BioWare's upcoming Mass Effect sequel, a title in which BioWare says will give gamers "more freedom" than they've had in past games.

Andromeda uses the Frostbite engine used in recent hits like Battlefront, Battlefield 1 and Mirror's Edge, so the graphics will certainly be stunning.

The game is set for release in March 2017.

Xbox One S leaks, is 40 percent thinner than original, has 4K support and new controller Microsoft's oft-rumored slim Xbox One has leaked ahead of an expected launch during E3 next week.

The reported Xbox One S (S for 'Slim') will be 40 percent thinner than the original, and we have some leaked images to back up the claims.

With the pictures, we also have some leaked specs which suggest the slim console will include 4K video playback, HDR support, include a 2TB hard drive, and a new "streamlined controller."

Finally, the power supply appears to built-in to the console, a first for the Xbox One. We will know more for sure tomorrow.

Apple iPhone 7 will use some modems from Intel In an effort to diversify their supplier base, Apple's upcoming iPhone 7 will use modems from Intel rather than Qualcomm in some models.

According to sources, the Intel modem chips will be built into the iPhones developed for AT&T, as well as for some overseas carriers. AT&T expects to sell about 25 million iPhones this year, while Apple sells over 200 million a year globally.

Importantly for Qualcomm, their modems will still be in Verizon models as well as all models sold in China.

The news is big for Intel, which currently has under 1 percent share of the smartphone baseband market.
